Home Start

Being a parent is a hard and lonely job, and often it feels like you are the only person in the world who thinks so! Dealing with the stresses of day to day life or picking up the courage to go along to toddler groups etc can sometimes seem too much.

Home-start volunteers provide one to one support for families with at least one child under the age of five right across Perth and Kinross. Volunteers have parenting experience so can relate to what you are going through. Support can include help to manage a child’s behaviour, provide a listening ear while you cope with a difficult situation (perhaps as a result of family breakdown, illness, isolation or bereavement), or provide practical support such as helping you access toddler groups and other services or develop strategies to keep on top of those household chores. Support is led by you and geared towards helping you feel stronger about your role as a parent.
