Lochleven Castle

Located on an Island in beautiful Loch Leven, this is one of the Scotland’s oldest castles, probably build in the early 1300’s.
Mary Queen of Scots spent a traumatic year in captivity here, when she miscarried twins and was forced to abdicate. She dramatically escaped in 1568.

Opening times

Seats on the passenger boat are limited, so we recommend booking in advance to guarantee entry.

1 Apr to 30 Sept:
Daily, 10am to last outward sailing at 3.30pm (closes 4.30pm)
1 to 31 Oct:
Daily, 10am to last outward sailing at 2pm (closes 3pm)
1 Nov to 31 Mar:
Closed
